Day-by-Day Itinerary: 6-Day Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Arusha & Tarangire Safari

Day 1-2 | Serengeti National Park

Depending on your destination, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, or Zanzibar, you will catch a flight to Serengeti National Park. This specific tour starts with a flight from Arusha. If you fly from a different location, we can amend the price for the flight.

The Serengeti is truly spectacular. It is famous for its vast open grasslands, which allow excellent wildlife sightings. Its climate and vegetation have remained untouched for millions of years. While the Serengeti boasts abundant wildlife, it is best known for the annual Great Migration. Vast numbers of wildebeest, accompanied by large numbers of zebra and antelope, move annually across the land, constantly seeking fresh grazing. The precise timing of the migration is entirely dependent upon the rainfall patterns each year.

After lunch and an extensive game drive, we head for our luxury partner lodge for dinner and overnight.
You will spend 2 nights inside Serengeti National Park.

Day 3 - Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, we will proceed with our final game drive in Serengeti National Park. Lunch will be served inside the park, and after that, you will drive straight to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The accommodation is on the crater rim, where you can relax, have dinner, and turn in for a good night's rest.

Day 4 - Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, we will descend 600m (2000ft) deep to the crater floor.
When you first see the Ngorongoro Crater, it looks like a forgotten world. The steep volcanic walls, sweeping savannah, pockets of acacia woodland, and glistening lakes and swamps conceal a pristine wilderness. The crater was created when a large volcano exploded and collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago. The drive down the crater is an adventure in itself, and when you reach the crater floor, you quickly find yourself amongst large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. The crater provides the best chance of seeing the endangered black rhino, which can sometimes be spotted in the open grasslands.
After lunch and an extensive game drive inside the crater, we head for our luxury partner lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 - Karatu to Tarangire National Park

Early morning, after breakfast, we depart for Tarangire National Park. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which runs through it. This 'river of warthogs' is the region's only water source for wildlife during the Dry season. The vegetation is quite dense in some places, including elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and a lush groundwater forest. The park is well known for its elephant families, which can often be seen congregating by the river. You may also see giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeest. These animals are closely followed by a range of predators, including lions and leopards. More bird-breeding species are found in Tarangire National Park than anywhere else on the planet!
After lunch and an extensive game drive, we head for our luxury partner lodge for dinner and overnight.
