5-Day Tanzania Safari Packages

Three Parks, No Rush

5-Day Tanzania Safari Packages 2026

Who Is This For?

Travelers who want proper time at each park rather than driving through. Ideal for wildlife photographers, serious safari enthusiasts, and first-timers who've read enough to know the Serengeti deserves more than one day.

What Will You See?

Three to four parks across five days — enough for two full days in the Serengeti, a proper Ngorongoro Crater morning, Tarangire's elephants, and Lake Manyara's diverse birdlife and primates. No day feels like a transfer day.

When to Go?

June–October is the strongest window, particularly July–August for migration crossings in the northern Serengeti. January–March for calving season game viewing. November and May offer green scenery at lower cost.

Where?

Full northern Tanzania circuit from Arusha or Moshi. Five days allows two nights in the Serengeti — the key difference from 4-day packages — which significantly improves migration sighting chances.

Why This Length?

Two consecutive days in the Serengeti is the tipping point that separates a solid safari from a great one. The extra day means if animals are far on day one, you have day two to find them. Predator behaviour and migration patterns reward patience.

How It Works

Day 1: Tarangire or Manyara. Day 2–3: Serengeti (drive in via Ngorongoro Conservation Area). Day 4: Ngorongoro rim. Day 5: Crater descent → Arusha. Private vehicle, expert guide, all park fees and accommodation included.

Accommodation Options

Budget: Basic tented camps or public campsites inside parks — same wildlife access, very basic facilities.
Mid-Range: Comfortable lodges with en-suite bathrooms, restaurant meals, and pool access at most properties.
Luxury: Premium lodges and tented camps with private decks, full-service dining, and concession access.
Five days lets you cover three parks at a comfortable pace — typically Tarangire, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater — with a full day at each rather than a single rushed visit. This is the length we recommend if the Great Migration timing matters to your trip, since it gives more flexibility to chase the herds' actual location.

Tanzania is one of the top safari countries in Africa, and there are many options for a 5-day safari here. You can do a safari in isolation, or combine it with a beach holiday. Zanzibar is only a short plane hop away, and mainland Tanzania has some beautiful, idyllic beaches too. Adventure junkies might want to tag on an epic climb of Africa’s tallest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro. On a Tanzanian 5-day safari, you can visit the world-famous Northern safari circuit, featuring the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, or the lesser-known Southern safari circuit for an off-the-beaten-track safari. Whichever one you choose, you’ll go home with lots of precious memories, and chances are, one day, you’ll be back for more.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Park entrance fees, a private 4x4 safari vehicle with pop-up roof, an English-speaking driver-guide, accommodation for the nights specified, and all meals during the safari. International flights, visa fees, travel insurance, tips, and personal expenses are excluded.

Budget safaris use mobile tented camps — you sleep in a tent with a camp bed, shared ablutions, and meals cooked by the camp chef. Lodge safaris use permanent buildings with en-suite bathrooms and restaurant service. The parks, game drives, and guide are identical; only the overnight experience differs.

Match your days to the parks you want to cover without feeling rushed. One park can be done in 1-2 days. Two or three parks need 4-6 days. The full northern circuit (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara) needs 5-8 days to cover properly.

Yes, this is very common. A typical Tanzania trip combines safari, a Kilimanjaro climb, and a Zanzibar beach stay into one 10-14 day itinerary. We handle all the logistics and sequencing so flights and transfers connect properly.

June-October (dry season) concentrates wildlife near water and provides the clearest game viewing. January-March is excellent for the Serengeti calving season. The green season (November-May) has fewer visitors, lower prices, and lush scenery, though wildlife is more spread out.
