Day 1 - Welcome to Tanzania


Upon your arrival, you will find our company representative at the airport waiting for you with the special board with your name written on it.

He will drive you directly to your Arusha accommodation to relax and prepare for your next day's safari. He will explain different things about our beautiful country and peaceful people on the way.

Day 2 - Elephant Park


At 7.00 am, you'll have breakfast at the hotel, and from 8 to 8.30 am you'll be picked up and start a game drive en route heading to Tarangire gate. You'll arrive at 10.00 am and spend 10 min for registration. Afterward, you'll start the game drive inside the park. At 1:00 pm, you'll have lunch at the picnic site (taking good care of beef takers and vegetarians).

The park is 118 km (2 hours drive) southwest of Arusha and its total surface area is 2850sq km. The park has sparse vegetation strewn with baobab trees and acacia trees and it's the only area in the northern circuit with the greatest number of wildlife outside the Serengeti eco-system. Animals expected to spot are zebras, cheetahs, giraffes, lions, Thomson's and Grant's gazelles, kori bustard the heavy flying bird, antelope species, and many elephants.

Apart from a game drive in Tarangire, you can also choose a hot air balloon safari (it's $600 per person).

Day 3 - Lake Manyara National Park


The park has a variety of diverse habitats, underground water forest, woodlands, and the western shore of the alkaline lake which provide a feeding area for thousands of flamingos. It's the only park in Tanzania with a great number of bird species. Also, 180 butterfly species have been documented in the park.

The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions and its canopy walking. Common wildlife expected to be seen are thousands of wildebeests, buffalos, giraffes, hippos, lions, warthogs, baboons, honey badgers, bush elephants, zebras, waterbucks, and many others.

Lunch will be served inside the park at around 2:00 pm. You will continue with the game drive till late evening and you will exit the park. You'll then be driven back to your accommodation.

Day 4 - Ngorongoro Crater


The park has volcanic soil that supports many habitats making it potential for Big Five spotting in a single day visit. Inside the park, there are lake make ( a Maasai word meaning soda lake) which provides a home for many birds.

Apart from that, the park is well known for the existence of many Maasai families living in their circular-oriented bomas.

Furthermore, it's best for anyone wishing to explore the history of human evolution pioneered by Leakey's family. Animals expected to be spotted are lions, buffalo, wildebeests, many birds, zebras, hippos, gazelles, jackals, foxes and other wild dogs, elands, waterbucks, servals, and ungulates.

After the game drive in the late afternoon, you will exit the park heading to your accommodation for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 5 - Visit Merelani Mines


After breakfast, you'll take a one-hour drive to the Tanzanite mines in Merelani. You'll enjoy the scenic journey to this renowned mining area, where you'll be captivated by the beauty of Tanzanite, a rare gemstone found only in this region. You'll explore the mines, observe the extraction process, and interact with local miners and experts who will share insights into the formation and significance of Tanzanite. You'll be immersed in the rich history and cultural importance of this precious gem. This day-long tour offers a unique opportunity to see the birthplace of Tanzanite and appreciate its allure and rarity. Afterward, you will be dropped off at your accommodation in Moshi.

Day 6 - Materuni Waterfalls


We will pick you up from your hotel after getting breakfast. First, you will visit the waterfalls which will be 50 minutes walk away. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga, and village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora.

The views are truly dramatic, and with some luck, you will see the summit of Kilimanjaro. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is an inviting place for a refreshing swim so don‘t forget your swimwear.

After having enjoyed the scenery, you will slowly return with your guide to Materuni village, where you will experience a traditional Chagga lunch.

In the afternoon, you will be taken to the airport or hotel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most day trips run approximately 6-10 hours from Moshi including transport. We'll confirm exact timings based on your accommodation location and chosen activity.

Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, water (though we carry extra), a light rain jacket, and a camera. For waterfall or hot spring trips, bring swimwear and a towel.

Some combinations work well (for example, Materuni waterfalls and a coffee farm tour share the same area). Others are too spread out. Let us know which activities interest you and we'll advise on what's practical.

Most of our day trips suit families with children old enough to walk for an hour or two. Waterfall hikes involve some uneven terrain. Lake Chala and Chemka Hot Spring involve swimming, so children should be supervised. We're happy to advise based on your children's ages.

Yes, we pick you up from your accommodation in Moshi and return you at the end of the day. Transport is included in the day trip price.
